12 months on, loved ones honour Charlie

On the day of remembrance for a lost friend, even the weather took on a sombre tone.

Friends and family gathered at the Recreation Hotel on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of Charlie Park’s disappearance.

Despite the sadness of the occasion, those gathered at the hotel chose to celebrate Mr Park’s memory, and refused to let the mood be dampened by the gloomy weather.

Bob Gregory said he organised the tribute for his mate of 46 years to keep Mr Park’s disappearance in the public consciousness, in the hope someone with information would step forward.

Mr Gregory said his friend was a very giving person with a kind nature.

“He was a very generous guy. He would do a good turn before he ever did a bad one,” Mr Gregory said.

“We all miss him very much.”
