'Stellar' year for School of Mines ends with top ERA honours

The Western Australian School of Mines has been awarded top honours in geology and geochemistry in the 2012 Excellence in Research for Australia results.

WASM received a ranking of five for both departments, the highest recognition possible, recognising the institution as a world-class facility.

It was also awarded a four in geophysics and a three in research engineering.

These results were revealed at the Minerals Museum on Friday night, when a function was held to mark the museum’s 105th anniversary.

Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Jeanette Hacket said she was very proud of the results and thanked the Kalgoorlie-Boulder campus staff for their outstanding work.
