Top tri debuts by Cutts and Dyett

Maitlin Cutts and Helen Dyett have made impressive debuts for the Kalgoorlie Triathlon Club, finishing first and second respectively in last weekend's short course event.

In the second meeting of the local season, Cutts (1.10.05 off 20-minute handicap) and Dyett (1.11.24 off 20) produced sterling efforts to finish ahead of veteran Dave O’Brien (1.11.48 off 32).

Damien Keys recorded the fastest time of the day (0.38.38) to complete the 300m swim, 9km cycle and 3km run off a handicap of 36.

Bernadette Potter (0.47.38) was the quickest of the women.

The fastest men’s and women’s splits were recorded by James Potter (6.24) and Tonya Parr (5.38) in the swimming leg, Ian Malseed (17.34) and Karen Franks (20.11) on the bike and O’Brien (13.39) and Cutts (16.48) in the run.

In the long course event a number of competitors fell foul to misfortune, with Carla Zoghbi (1.30.28 no handicap) taking line honours by two minutes.
