Round hits the screen

It is the week when Goldfields folk love to frock up, have a punt and socialise with friends – the annual iconic Kalgoorlie Race Round.

And now all the glitz and glamour, colour, hype and fun of “Australia’s biggest party” have been captured on film in the documentary ‘Kalgoorlie Race Round – Our People, Our Stories’.

Presenter of the 30-minute screening Julio Santarelli said choosing the famous Race Round as the documentary’s heart was an easy choice.

“Racing and Wagering WA realised the importance of racing in the country and also the economic and social impact it can have on a community,” Santarelli said.

“We wanted to highlight that and Kalgoorlie just picked itself.

“It’s an iconic Race Round and every person, including non-racing people, want to visit the Kalgoorlie Race Round.

“We wanted to capture the true essence of country racing and Kalgoorlie represents that.”
