Open day a big hit

More than 300 people took refuge from yesterday’s soaring temperatures at the Kalgoorlie Police and Community Youth Centre open day.

Parents watched on as children took part in a range of activities, from Juji- tsu to belly dancing, zumba and gymnastics.

A sausage sizzle, face painting and a bouncy castle were also on offer at the Egan Street facility as part of the event.

Centre manager Daniel Ogle said it was a “fun” day for all involved.

“It was very successful,” Mr Ogle said.

“We had a lot of people who don’t normally come find out what (the PCYC) is all about.”
