O’Connor Primary School performing arts teacher Jo Talbot recently nominated some students to be acknowledged for the work and effort they put into the Drumbeat Program.

Students Billie-Rae Whitehurst and Libby Charleston were presented with a Drumbeat T-shirt and necklace for their commitment and dedication at a school assembly last week.

Drumbeat facilitators were called on to nominate students for a monthly prize giveaway.

“Libby Charleston was new to the Drumbeat percussion group this year and has taken a very passionate role with this group,” Ms Talbot said.

“She has an active role in supporting other students, using my music room at lunch times to work with new students and students who want to spend more time drumming.

“Libby is a real inspiration and a joy to have in all classes. Billie-Rae is an outstanding student, always assisting and helping new students who join Drumbeat and coming up with new and exciting rhythms for us to incorporate into our songs."
