Singles title to Feeney
Singles title to Feeney

New South Welshman Adam Feeney had more than one reason to celebrate yesterday's men's singles victory in the 2012 Cliffs Esperance Tennis International.

The 27-year-old sixth seed came from a set down to defeat South Australian and seventh seed Alex Bolt, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.

However, the right-hander said his engagement to girlfriend Nikita Sayle also brought him much pleasure.

“Saturday was actually our five year anniversary and I surprised her, Nikita, on Friday,” Feeney said.

“We took a trek down to Lover’s Beach and I thought it was an appropriate name and place.

“I had sourced out a few areas during the week and I always had it (proposing) in my mind.

“I wanted to do it here when I knew she was coming over – I was lucky enough to get a ‘yes’ out of it.”
