Consul-General enjoys first visit

The US Consul-General in Perth, Aleisha Woodward, has made her first visit to the Goldfields.

Ms Woodward, appointed as the country’s top diplomatic representative in WA in 2010, arrived in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on Tuesday night.

Yesterday, she visited the Western Australian School of Mines, the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Museum and the Super Pit.

Asked for her first impressions of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Ms Woodward said it was “an obviously well planned city”.

“As we pulled into Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the city is a little oasis in the middle of a desert both, I think, literally and figuratively,” she said.

“I think it is a lovely city, I can see why 30,000 people want to live here.”
