Regis Resources yesterday announced completion of its first gold pour and shipment from the Garden Well mine, 100km north of Laverton, as the miner’s share price hit a five-year high.
The first gold pour of 41.3kg, the equivalent of 1330oz, was described as a “significant milestone” in the project’s transition to full operations by Regis managing director Mark Clark.
Mr Clark said the 4Mtpa Garden Well processing plant – constructed on time and in line with the $109 million budget – has been operating above its nameplate design during the commissioning phase.
The mill has operated at up to 470 tonnes per hour, or 4.1Mtpa, during the commissioning phase which Mr Clark said “has gone very smoothly”.
It is now operating 24 hours a day.
“The first gold pour at the Garden Well gold mine is a very significant milestone for Regis and a great credit to the company’s development and operations teams,” Mr Clark said.
