Young Achiever goes extra mile
Young Achiever goes extra mile

Going the extra mile for clients is all just a part of the job for Acorn Recruitment’s junior recruiter Kayla Hoddy-Rook.

Ms Hoddy-Rook was last month named Goldfields Young Achiever at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 2012 Business and Employee Awards.

Nominated for the Trainee of the Year award, Ms Hoddy-Rook said she did not know she was eligible for the Goldfields Young Achiever award until she was called up onto the stage.

“I was just having dinner and then they said my name and it was like ‘what? I didn’t even know I could get that one’,” she said.

“It was a really big shock.”

Often called upon to give new Kalgoorlie-Boulder residents recommendations for resturants and hair salons, the judges called Ms Hoddy-Rook the “unofficial ambassador to the Goldfields”.
