Sea of yellow for annual Daffodil Day
The golden city will be flooded with yellow today, as residents dig deep for Daffodil Day.
Goldfields Find Cancer Early project officer Pam Foulkes-Taylor and a team of volunteers will be in St Barbara’s Square from 9am selling fresh daffodils and Daffodil Day merchandise.
Ms Foulkes-Taylor said anyone wanting to show their support for the worthy cause was encouraged to get in early.
“We sold out of fresh daffodils by 11am last year,” Ms Foulkes-Taylor said.
She said the flowers had been donated by WA growers, which meant 100 per cent of the sale proceeds would go directly to the Cancer Council WA for cancer research and to provide patient support and prevention programs to all Australians.
According to the organisation, cancer is the leading cause of death in Australia, with one in two Australians diagnosed by the age of 85.
