Grim discovery

The 51-year-old housemate of missing Boulder woman Veronica “Ronnie” Kaye Messina has been charged with her murder.

Human remains, believed to be Mrs Messina’s, were found in dense bushland off the Goldfields Highway, about 10km north of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The Kalgoorlie Miner understands the remains were located about 8am on Saturday morning, with forensic police conducting a detailed examination of the scene over the course of Saturday and Sunday.

Major Crime Squad detectives interviewed and charged the 51-year-old with stealing last week, after it was alleged he accessed Mrs Messina’s bank accounts on five occasions after her disappearance on June 25.

He was charged with murder on Saturday afternoon.

Police also allege the housemate drove Mrs Messina’s white Holden Commodore on several occasions, before leaving the car at Kalgoorlie Airport on June 26. He is due to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court this morning.
