Norths maintained their standing at the top of the competition, beating YMCA 4-2 in a fiery encounter in the weekend’s A1 men’s hockey action.

YMCA’s Gareth Powell was issued a yellow card after a tackle from behind – prompting some heated exchanges between the two sides.

Daniel Lavery was the star for Norths with three goals, while Dave Segui and Ben Broad were also prominent for the ladder leaders.

For YMCA, Luke Murphy was best with Dillan Trombas and Rob Leahy the goalscorers. In the other A1 men’s fixture, CBC thrashed Mines, 5-1.

Mick Sadler (two goals), Allen Clarke (two goals) and Sam McGinity were CBC’s best.

Matt Geers was Mines’ best, sneaking in their only goal, while Luke Wakeman and Travis Gould also performed strongly. Mines scored six goals on their way to victory against CBC in A2 men’s action.
