Nationals call up for Grills

Kalgoorlie-Boulder city councillor Dave Grills will be number two on the WA Nationals Legislative Council ticket for the Mining and Pastoral region at next year’s State Election.

The veteran police officer, who is also the Nationals State vice-president, was formally endorsed as candidate over the weekend, heading the ticket alongside the Party’s State director Jacqui Boydell.

Speaking to the Kalgoorlie Miner yesterday, Mr Grills said he was looking forward to a challenging campaign.

“I’m looking forward to the next 12 months – we’ve got a great team of candidates,” he said.

“I’m quite humbled by the fact I got in.”

The Nationals campaign has so far focused on the preservation of the Royalties for Regions initiative, with leader Brendon Grylls stating earlier this year a vote for either the Liberals or Labor had the potential to weaken the project.
