Local environmental group the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group has been awarded a West Australian Community Services Excellence award.
KBULG received the small organisation award for their hard work in the Better Environment, Better Lifestyle program.
KBULG chief executive David Gleeson is proud of the group’s hard work over the years and said receiving the award was the icing on top of the cake. “It’s just fantastic that we have been recognised for all our hard work over the past 40 years, ” Mr Gleeson said.
“I would like to thank all community members, who make such a strong commitment to our community environment and our committee and members.
“Without our sponsors, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Barrick Kanowna, KCGM, Western Power and LandCorp, none of this would be possible. It makes such a strong contribution to our local environment.”
KBULG has planted more than 110,000 trees and shrubs since the year 2000, as part of group activities.
