Manners' good work benefits students

Fifteen years ago mining stalwart Ron Manners launched a foundation with the aim of fostering Western Australia’s brightest young economic brains.

Under his leadership, the Mannkal Economic Education Foundation has sent 500 young people to conferences and on internships in Australia and overseas.

“At the beginning we were looking at sending four people a year, now we send eight at a time to different things,” Mr Manners said.

“The foundation is growing exponentially.”

The foundation aims to strengthen the free market system in WA and Australia by promoting ideals of voluntary cooperation, choice, personal rights, limited government and responsible resourcefulness of individuals.

Through the scholarships, Mannkal promotes the greater understanding of the concepts which underpin free societies.

The scholarships and awards go to students from WA universities as well as exceptional students from other Australian universities.
