Norseman pharmacy a welcome relief

Norseman residents requiring medical assistance have received welcome news with the arrival of the town’s first pharmacy.

The pharmacy was established with the assistance of Dakshina Health, an organisation committed to opening pharmacies in rural and remote areas. Dakshina Health business development manager Marilyn Smith said the addition of the pharmacy would benefit the community.

“The pharmacy can provide a free first point of call for health issues and expert advice,” she said.

“A registered pharmacist can work to support the local doctor and reduce their current workload.

“They can also assist with minor ailments and medication management.”

Prior to the introduction of the pharmacy, residents either travelled to Kalgoorlie-Boulder or ordered prescriptions from the local newsagency.
