Pleasing results for Norseman

Three staff members from Norseman District High School have been nominated for State education awards.

Pania Turner and Lourdes Has have been nominated for the WA State Registrars Association Outstanding Administrative Support Award.

Ms Has being nominated in the Registrars category and Mrs Turner in the School Officers’ category.

It came as no surprise to the school to discover Ms Turner is one of three State finalists for the award, the winner of which will be announced tomorrow.

School principal Gail Allen said she was very pleased and proud of the result, stating both Ms Has and Mrs Turner were highly professional and dedicated to the school and were very valuable members of the administration team.

In addition to the WASSRA award, Ms Turner has also been nominated for the 2011 WA Education School Support Staff Member for 2011 award, while Year 2 teacher Jayde Blackburn has been nominated for Beginning Teacher of the Year Award.

The WA Education Awards are a way for schools and communities to celebrate the achievements of both individuals and schools.

“The nominations are a reflection of the commitment all staff demonstrate towards successful student outcomes,” Ms Allen said.

“Ms Blackburn, as a beginning teacher, is showing outstanding qualities as a teacher and her passion for education is constantly reflected in her classroom practice.”

State semi-finalists for the WA Education Awards will be announced on September 19.
