Buccs add Cooperwood

The S&K Electrical Geraldton Buccaneers have wasted no time replacing axed import Quincy Hankins-Cole, signing power forward Cory Cooperwood.

Cooperwood played 38 matches with the Stirling Senators in the last two seasons, averaging over 20 points.

Coach Mark Heron said it’s all happened “extremely quickly” and the Buccs are hoping Cooperwood will be able to play against the Hawks tomorrow night.

“It’s been an amazing job by the administrative staff of Andrew Horstman and Jaz Bowley,” he said.

“They’ve done an amazing job getting him here. If he can’t play tomorrow, he’ll be right for next weekend.”

Cooperwood trained with the Buccs last night.

He was looked at by the Buccs in the off-season, and Heron said he’ll fit into the line-up seamlessly.

“He’s not as a tall as Quincy, but he brings a lot of energy defensibly,” he said.

“He’s a great team player.

“He’ll add to what everyone is doing straight away.”
