GNFL lads to take on SA

Aidan Tropiano and Liam Anthony have been selected for WA.

Two Great Northern Football League products have been selected in the 27-man squad for WA in their State match against South Australia this weekend.

Perth’s Aidan Tropiano and East Fremantle’s Liam Anthony have been selected to face the Croweaters.

Tropiano has been in superb touch, and is arguably the Sandover Medal favourite at this stage.

He has been in Perth’s best players in every one of the struggling side’s matches this season, and is averaging more than 30 touches a game.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing for the 22-year-old, however, having moved to the Demons in 2014 after struggling to get a regular league game with East Fremantle.

But State selection is a just reward for the former St Pats and Brigades player.

Anthony is one of a dozen former AFL players to have made the squad.

He played juniors for Railways, before making his league debut for East Fremantle at the age of 18 in 2006.

Anthony played 43 games for the Sharks before being drafted to North Melbourne at the end of 2008, where he played 58 matches.

He was delisted at the end of last year, and has averaged more than 24 disposals from his seven matches since returning to East Fremantle this year.

The two States have both won 46 times from their 92 encounters.

Bouncedown is at 2.15pm at Lathlain Park.
