Saints suffer big drubbing
A merciless Yacht Club handed Saints a 9-2 thrashing prior to their Challenge Cup encounter next week.
Saints attacked for the first five minutes and were unlucky not to score but then three goals in three minutes by Yacht Club opened the floodgates.
A 7-0 scoreline at half-time saw some lowly hung heads in the Saints camp.
The second half was a much closer affair.
Saints applied far more pressure on the Yacht Club defence and midfield and were able to resurrect two goals while Yacht Club did the same.
Michael Evans and Shay Connolly enjoyed a day out, scoring four and three goals respectively while veteran Adam Burrows and young junior Jake Quinton hit the backboard for Saints.
Casuals scored a convincing 4-1 victory over Australs on Friday night.
With Clint Yeates dominating the midfield from centre half, Casuals had numerous scoring opportunities which were shared by Ben Matthews, Brad Delane, Brent Allen and Paul Lalor.

Jacob Sumner continues to work hard in the midfield for Australs, while Ben Mynott is having a great season in goals.
Murchison and Rovers fought out a thrilling 4-4 draw on Sunday.
Murchison opened up a 4-2 gap with ten minutes to play when Rovers scored a third goal.
A penalty corner to Rovers on the final whistle saw Pete Murray score his third goal with a drag flick to tie the game.
The consistent Ronan Croft jailed Rovers other goal.
Jaimie Jones scored a brace for Murchison with Dylan Bean and Callum Williamson continuing their goalscoring form.
Tim Burns continued his good form for Rovers, along with young Tanna Brandis while Ryan Dix played strongly for Murchison.
The third and fourth teams on the women’s ladder, Australs and Swans, played out a 1-1 all draw on Friday night.
Swans badly missed Jenna Jose, who has a torn ACL and this affects their midfield strength.
Angela Watson and Jess Wake scored for their respective teams while Kate Tonkin, Faye Zurnamer and young Quinn McVee were mentioned for Australs.
Mikaila Watson continued her consistent form and, along with Naomi Mynott and Brooke Ramsay, were best for Casuals.
Yacht Club and Saints played out a scoreless draw in their fixture on Saturday evening.
Both defences were on top with limited opportunities to score.
Saints were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty stroke late in the game when Lisa Norris appeared to be taken out by a Yacht Club defender, but they were unable to convert the resultant penalty corner.
Megan McRae, Hayley McGlynn and Chloe Craig played well for Yacht Club, while Lisa Norris Belinda Basell and Kirsten Zammit were awarded umpire votes for Saints.
Cardinals asserted their position at the top of the ladder with a solid 3-0 victory over Murchison.
Murchison went in without Tarryn Ivan, their prime defender, and this unbalanced their defence but Cardinals dominated the game and created many opportunities.
Sharnee Dix, Jess Giudice-Nairn and Kate Crudelli scored for Cardinals while the Cooper sisters, Erin, Mikala and Dayna played strongly.
Kayley Sorenson, Brooke Elward and Emma Sherwood fought hard for Murchison.
