One dead in Tarago-van collision

A passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt in the back of a van has died after the van collided with a Toyota Tarago in the Mid West yesterday.

Major Crash investigators are calling for witnesses to the crash in Arrowsmith.

Around 3.45pm a silver Toyota Tarago was travelling south on the Brand Highway, Arrowsmith, when it veered on to the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing a vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction, a police spokesman said.

"The Tarago has continued on the incorrect side of the road over a slight crest where it has then collided head on with a Ford Transit Van," the spokesman said.

A 26-year-old man from Beresford was sitting unrestrained in the back of the Transit van received fatal injuries and tragically died at the scene.

A 29-year-old male passenger in the Tarago received serious head injuries. A 60-year-old male passenger in the Transit van received fractures and injuries to his arm.
