Boy, 14, charged after foreshore row

Police have charged a 14-year-old boy after an alleged assault at Geraldton foreshore last week.

According to police, a group of youths were at the foreshore as well as a man and woman and their small children.

At about 5pm, the man approached the group of youths regarding their alleged offensive language and behaviour.

It is alleged one of the youths hit the man with a baseball bat, injuring his ribs.

Police claim other members of the group threw rocks at the victim, one of them hitting him in the eye.

It is further alleged another juvenile threatened the man with a kitchen knife.

Police arrested a 14-year-old Rangeway boy at the scene.

He was charged with carrying an article with intent to cause fear, common assault, criminal damage or destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The boy will face Geraldton Children’s Court later this month.
