First WA road fatality for Easter

A man has died in a crash in the Gascoyne this morning, the first death on the State’s roads this Easter.

Emergency services are at the scene after a car rolled on the North West Coastal Highway in Meadow just after 9.30am.

It is believed to be the first road death nationally for the Easter period.

Major Crash investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with information to assist them with their investigation into the fatal crash.

They said a silver Kia station sedan was involved in a roll over, near the Billabong Roadhouse.

As a result of the collision, a 33-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle received fatal injuries and died at the scene. A 34-year-old woman, the driver of the vehicle, received injuries and was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on North West Coastal
Highway who may have seen the crash or the vehicle prior to the crash.

In South Australia, a two-year-old girl has died when the ute she was a passenger in rolled in South Australia.

The two-year-old girl was travelling in the ute when it rolled at 4pm on Friday on North Coast Road near Point Turton, west of Adelaide.

She died at the scene, while the 35-year-old woman who was driving and a five-year-old boy were taken to Yorketown Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
