Dream on the line at audition

Brianna Randall joins hundreds to audition for the X Factor at the Ocean Centre Hotel. She is excited at the prospect of making it to the big time.

The hype of the X Factor hit Geraldton yesterday with the top-rating talent show bringing auditions to town.

For five hours, the Ocean Centre Hotel was swarming with hundreds of people hungry for fame.

One young lady determined to give the audition her all was 18-year-old Brianna Randall.

Ms Randall said the auditions meant the world to her.

She said singing was her escape growing up.

“I had violence in my life as a child and now I’m past that and in a way I’m stronger,” she said.

“To sing today meant a lot to me, it was very nerve-racking but I think I did OK.”

The auditions were filmed and hopefuls will find out in a few months if they made it to the next round.

“To win for me would be the best thing in the world,” Ms Randall said.

“I would be speechless even to get to a live show.

“I have used singing in the past to help me through my hard times and I’m here today for me.

“Singing helps me get my feelings out.

“I sang a song called Beautiful today to remind myself I am beautiful despite all those who put me down, and to believe in myself.”

Ms Randall’s friend Mila Krippner was at the audition for support.

“I think it’s pretty great she is auditioning and I’m proud of her,” she said.

“I really want her to succeed because I know how much this means to her.”

The show’s confidentiality agreement means the Geraldton Guardian won’t be able to interview contestants who make it to the next round.
