Alleged drunk driver charged after social media post

Footage of a car swerving along an Exmouth road that was uploaded to social media has helped police lay charges against an alleged drink driver.

It is alleged a 32-year-old man was recorded by another driver as they travelled along Murat Road in Exmouth on Monday.

The vision, uploaded to an Exmouth community Facebook page, shows a utility swerving to the wrong side of the road several times.

It was uploaded to social media by the concerned motorist on Tuesday and police were informed about the incident.

Officers tracked the driver down a few hours later again travelling along Murat Road.

He was stopped for a random breath test.

When he allegedly failed that test he was arrested.

Police charged him with excess 0.05 and reckless driving.

He is due to appear in the Exmouth Magistrate’s Court on March 11.
