Man charged over alleged metal theft

A 47-year-old Beachlands man has been charged after police seized a large quantity of cabling, copper and aluminium yesterday.

The metal products were found after police stopped a Hyundai Excel on Maitland Street about 11.30am.

The property, allegedly stolen from a Durlacher Street premises, was seized and the male passenger was transported to Geraldton Police Station for further inquiries.

The 47-year-old man has been charged with stealing and trespassing.

He is expected to appear before Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on May 8.
