Ute collides with car, fence
A utility vehicle crashed through the fence at a residential home in Geraldton on Thursday, one of two crashes involving P-plate drivers.
Police were called to the crash between the utility and a Kia Rio about 9.15pm at the Shenton and Gregory streets intersection.
A female resident, whose fence was damaged, heard the crash happen and said it was fortune no one was injured.
“The noise was unbelievable,” she said. “It was lucky no one was seriously hurt.”
The utility had crashed through the fence, coming to rest in a bush, just metres from the timber house.
The 17-year-old female driver of the utility received an infringement for failing to stop and give way at a stop sign, Act-Sgt Keith Burrows said.
Act-Sgt Keith Burrows said the teenage driver was taken to hospital with a suspected broken collarbone and later released.
He said the 18-year-old Kia driver, also a P-plater, was uninjured.
A P-plate driver received a broken nose in an earlier accident at Chapman Road and Bayly Street intersection about 5.30pm.
