Crushed: The driver was lucky to escape with only minor injuries.
Truck escape was 'a miracle'

Northampton Police were astonished how the 62-year-old driver of this road train escaped with just minor injuries after his vehicle rolled at Nerren Nerren on Monday.

The road train was on its roof, its cab completely crushed, when offi cers arrived at the wreck, 30km south of the Billabong Road House on North West Coastal Highway.

Police said the accident occurred between 3 and 4am.

Sgt Stuart Gerreyn said he feared the worst when he arrived.

“To be honest I thought we were going to be dealing with a fatality, but thankfully we weren’t,” Sgt Gerreyn commented on the wreck.
