Alleged burglar rings police

A 37-year-old man allegedly broke into a Geraldton restaurant last night before putting his phone on charge inside to then call police and turn himself in.

Police said the man, from the small Mid West town of Canna between Morawa and Mullewa, allegedly broke into Skeetas Restaurant in the CBD about midnight.

Sen. Sgt Marty Haim, of Geraldton police, said a window on the premises was smashed and the man allegedly stole some cool drinks before his change of heart.

“It was bizarre,” he said.

“He put his phone on charge, rang police and officers picked him up at the scene.”

The man has been charged with burglary and stealing.
