The Bluff Point Deli cook who took on a robber during a terrifying armed holdup on Saturday night shrugged off comments she was being brave.
A 15-year-old girl was behind the counter of the deli just before closing time when a man wearing a balaclava and wielding a knife held up the premises.
Geraldton detective Senior Constable Ben Harris said the man entered the store at 8.50pm and pulled a small fi shing knife from his pocket.
He said the young girl ran to the kitchen for help while the offender approached the counter and started to take money from the till.
The cook, a woman in her 50s, came out of the kitchen with a strong antiseptic solution in a bottle and tried to spray the offender.
