Getting kids off the streets was the motivation behind Lighthouse Church volunteer Joel Offszanka’s idea to host its Youth Fun Fair last week.

Children from 12 to 17 years of age were invited to participate in the three-day event held on the Church’s Lester Ave vacant lot.

Lighthouse youth workers organised several activities including urban art workshops, mazes, laser tag and mini golf.

Mr Offszanka, who is in his early 20s and has been involved with the church’s youth program for several years, said he hoped the event was a success and would continue to give kids something to do.

“We saw there was a need of a place for the kids to hang during school holidays,” he said.
