Saved by two anti-venoms

Dan Williamson is on the road to recovery after he was bitten twice by a snake with both gwardar and tiger snake venom last Thursday.

Mr Williamson said the fact it was two types of venom added to the severity of the situation.

He was given a double-dose of anti-venom, and remained in hospital for 24 hours before being released Friday.

While he had come across snakes before and was always cautious, Mr Williamson was taken by surprise when the 50cm snake struck his hand.

“The snake must have been in real distress and really angry because it released quite a bit of venom,” he said.
