It was a golden day for Lark Hill trainer Jarrod Humphries as he watched his runner Golden Friars cross the line for its first win in 27 starts at Geraldton Turf Club yesterday.

It was an overdue win for the well travelled galloper, which took out the Coronation Beach Maiden (1900m) a length and a quarter ahead of Ballistic Miss, with Mexican Joe third.

Humphries said he had no concrete plans for Golden Friars’ future.

“I have some good clients and they deserved for the horse to win,” he said.

“I brought the horse to Geraldton because it is a little easier company than Pinjarra, Narrogin and Northam. She was running well but had a bit of bad luck.”
