Police in the Mid West town of Meekatharra have charged a man and a woman over two drink driving offences each - in just 12 hours.

Neither had driving licences and the man, aged 24, blew more than four times over the drink drive limit on both occasions, police said.

Meekatharra police Sgt Daniel Stachan said the woman, 28, and the man were stopped for the second time this morning by police patrolling the town centre.

He said the man, who had never held a driver licence, registered.211 when breathalysed by officers at 9.58am. This was after he was charged with being more than five times the limit (.260) at 9.10pm last night.

The woman, whose licence was suspended, was this morning charged with excess 0.08, eight hours after she blew .189 when stopped by police at 1.45am.

Both were released on strict bail conditions to appear in court on January 9.
