Council rangers will have the police in their corner during a crackdown on illegal off-road vehicle use.

The action has been called for after a flood of complaints to police and the City of Greater Geraldton concerning unregistered off-road vehicles being driven on public beaches, natural reserves and trails.

Mid West Gascoyne District Traffic Enforcement Unit officer in- charge Sgt Paul Matthews said there also had been a spike in accidents with unregistered vehicles.
