Charity desperate for food

Foodbank Geraldton is desperate for donations for its annual Christmas hamper appeal.

With less than three weeks before Christmas, manager Pat Hodges said the charity would be unable to meet demand without increased support.

Ms Hodges said current donations would cover just 25 hampers, with the aim to raise $20,000 and distribute 1500-2000 hampers before the holiday season.

“We want to deliver some joy and Christmas cheer to people who are struggling, to the elderly who are on their own and families who would otherwise go without,” she said.

“Just $20 will purchase a hamper filled with staple items, festive foods and also a few treats for the kids.”
