Firearms, cash seized in drug raids

Geraldton police have seized firearms, thousands of dollars cash and more than 1.5 kilograms of cannabis in a host of drug raids this week.

Police today uncovered a hydroponic cannabis lab, a rifle and ammunition in a raid at a house in Paringa St, Mt Tarcoola.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited drug, possession of an unlicensed rifle and ammunition.

A sawn-off, double barrel shotgun and $9500 cash was seized by officers during a vehicle stop in Geraldton on Monday night. Geraldton detectives say inquiries into the matter are continuing.

Two Geraldton men, aged 36 and 30, were charged by officers in Leeman on Thursday after one kilogram of cannabis was allegedly uncovered in a car on Brand Hwy. Both men were charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell or supply.

Last night, officers seized $1400 and charged a man with unlawful possession after a vehicle stop in Rangeway. As of today 12 people have so far been charged by police with drug-related offences.

Two drug detection dogs were used during the raids, coordinated by Geraldton police detectives, Volume Crime Team, K9-Unit and officers from Mullewa and Northampton.
