Debt takes toll on Nicoletti empire

Foreign ownership of agricultural land in the Mid West looks set to expand as a valuable farming property near Mullewa goes on the market.

WA’s biggest grain grower John Nicoletti has listed his 28,500 hectare Daisy Downs property for sale with Landmark.

Mr Nicoletti is reportedly in talks over the sale of the property with a Chinese company and the Qatar Government.

Landmark Geraldton agent Jock Drummond confirmed there was strong foreign investment in agricultural land in both the Mid West and the Northern Wheatbelt.

He said it was often reported that these foreign-owned companies purchased the land to ensure food security for their countries.
