Hard rockers Kiss will celebrate their 40th anniversary next year with a tour of Australia, including a blockbuster gig with Californian hair metal bad boys Motley Crue at Perth Arena on February 28.

The Kiss army should come out in force to support the band, which formed in New York City in 1973 and recently unleashed Monster, their 20th studio album.

The current line-up of Kiss features co-founders singer Paul Stanley and bassist Gene Simmons alongside long-time members, guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer.

Next year's tour will be the hugely popular quartet's first visit to Australia in five years.

Motley Crue, which recently completed a hard rock residency in Las Vegas, came Down Under last year. The band stars singer Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars, bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee.

Joining Kiss and the Crue will be Dublin rock veterans Thin Lizzy, minus singer Phil Lynott, who died in 1986. The touring six-piece line-up of Thin Lizzy features three long-serving members, plus singer Ricky Warwick, who joined the band two years ago.

Adelaide rock outfit Diva Demolition will open the show.

Tickets go on sale via Ticketek outlets on November 22.
