Students meet Governor-General

Twenty-two Year 9 students from Esperance Anglican Community School met Governor-General Quentin Bryce while visiting Canberra this week.

The students are touring Canberra on their Year 9 camp accompanied by teachers Iain Clark and Kate Riley.

The students left for Canberra last Thursday and will return in the early hours of this morning.

“The students toured Canberra for five days visiting sights such as the National Capital Exhibition, the Australian War Memorial, the Australian Institute of Sport, the CSIRO Discovery Centre, the National Museum of Australia and the Electoral Education Centre,” Esperance Anglican Community School Principal Jason Bartell said.

“That tour was followed by a brief tour of Sydney which included a Sydney Harbour Cruise, a visit to the Sydney Tower and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.”

“We received this photo from the students’ visit to the Governor General’s residence in Canberra where they were fortunate enough to meet Ms Quentin Bryce, the Governor-General of Australia. This was a highlight for the students while on camp.”
