Two missing girls found at campsite near Orange

Two young girls who disappeared from a campsite near a creek in the NSW central west on Saturday have been found safe and well.

The seven-year-olds had last been seen climbing hills at Ophir, north of Orange, late on Saturday afternoon after spending the day exploring nearby bush tracks with their family.

Rescue crews could not find the girls overnight, with a land, water and air searches resuming on Sunday morning.

When the two young girls failed to return to family commenced a search for them while another adult in the group alerted authorities.

The family then spent the remainder of Saturday exploring nearby bush tracks that surround the campsite.

By 6pm officers from Canobolas Local Area Command arrived on scene and the extensive search for the two children began.

Assistance was also obtained from the SES and Rural Fire Service.

The search on Sunday continued with the SES flood-boat to search the nearby river and PolAir to search the nearby region.
