A 51-year-old Warnbro man has been charged with grievous bodily harm relating to an incident in Shoalwater on Wednesday night after a man was allegedly assaulted.

A police spokesman said St John Ambulance and police were called to Safety Bay Road, Shoalwater (near Coventry Road) just before 11pm on Wedndesday night regarding a man with serious injuries.

The 48-year-old alleged victim was taken to Rockingham District Hospital and was later transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 51-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on February 7.

Police said 43-year-old Cooloongup man had already presented himself to Rockingham Police Station last night.

He has also been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on February 14.
