Facebook shuts unborn baby's account

Facebook has deleted the account created by an American couple for their unborn girl child.

Parents-to-be Ellie and Matt Greene of Texas were so excited about their unborn daughter that they created the baby's own Facebook profile to share details of her progress with family and friends.

However, according to news reports, Facebook closed down the account, sticking to their terms of service that users must be 13 or older.

The couple said it was a “playful” way to keep friends up-to-date with Ellie’s progress. She is expected to deliver on June 9.

Word spread of young Marriah's online presence, and more than 350 friend requests poured in.
As of Wednesday night, their unborn daughter had 268 "friends" including mostly real friends and family of her parents.

Matt said there were “a few negative comments but 40 to one, they're friendly -- just the sweetest things."
"We weren't sure how to tell all our friends the baby was coming," Matt, 37, in a telephone interview with ABC News.

"We'd held off on telling people -- we wanted to make sure everything was fine with the pregnancy. We thought the quickest way to tell everyone would be to use Facebook."

Matt is a nurse and Ellie, 25, and is studying to be one.
