Nissan unveiled its 2013 Altima V8 Supercar in Melbourne yesterday.
It is the first all-new V8 Supercar model unveiled in two decades as Nissan prepares to join the V8 Supercars Championship next season with a four-car team led by Bathurst-winning brothers Todd and Rick Kelly.
Designed and built to the category's new Car of The Future regulations, which include 18-inch wheels, a transaxle gearbox and independent rear suspension.
It will be powered by the production-based V8 engine that will also be used in the 2013 Patrol four-wheel-drive that goes on sale in Australia in February.
The Kelly team will now work to homologate the car, in particular its aerodynamic package, to ensure a fair playing field within the V8 competition.
It makes its racing debut at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in March.
