My Wheels: Pieta Woollams

Pieta Woollams, 2012 Variety Golden Outback Bash participant, says Ford Fairlane 'Henrietta' brings back memories.

A 1971 ZD Ford Fairlane. I bought "Henrietta" in Melbourne because I needed a new Variety Bash car. She had already done two Bashes and been fitted with the necessary equipment. I went to work for Midway Ford in 1971 and a ZD Fairlane was the first automatic car I ever drove - sentimental memories.

A new Audi R8 is my dream car. I have a 2010 Audi A5 Sportback which I love. I can only imagine what it would be like to drive an R8.

My first car was a white 1970 Holden Torana sedan. I drove it off the showroom floor. The hire-purchase repayments were half my weekly wage. My fondest memory is driving it home on that first day.

It would be 4.5. I love most cars but have zero mechanical knowledge. Their appearance, design and performance fascinate me.

The 2012 Variety Bash - which will take participants from Albany to Perth, via Hyden, Norseman, Kalgoorlie, Sandstone and Dalwallinu - starts today. It's the ultimate Aussie adventure and raises funds to help WA's disadvantaged children.
