Suzuki is set to take on the hot-hatch brigade with the release of its all-new Swift Sport in March.
The sporty five-door hatch will be powered by a 100kW/160 Newton metre 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine - up 30kW and 30Nm over the regular Swift and 8kW/12Nm more than its predecessor.
While those power outputs may not scream "performance" the new model is tipped to weigh less than 1100kg, and the new engine is expected to sip just 6.5L/100km.
It will be available with a six-speed manual transmission, however Suzuki Australia has hinted there could be an automatic variant available.
The Swift Sport is expected to cost around $23,990 (plus on-road costs).
