'Master renovators' lift family's spirits

'Master renovators' lift family's spirits

A Perth mum has had an "enormous weight" lifted from her shoulders after months of wondering about the fate of her husband, who was a passenger on the Malaysia Airlines plane that disappeared in March.

Mother-of-two Danica Weeks said there had been little to smile about since her husband Paul boarded missing flight MH370, but the generosity of others to complete renovations on the family's home in The Vines had given her hope.

House Rules' WA contestants Russell and Carole Bramston last night revealed the renovations on Channel Seven's Today Tonight.

"Having the community rally around us and give their time, effort and heartfelt generosity towards finishing the renovations Paul started and turning our house into the beautiful home we had envisaged for our family has lifted an enormous weight from my shoulders," Mrs Weeks said.

"For the first time in this very dark road I feel I can breathe again and begin the steps towards creating a bright future for our sons; something that without Paul I could never have imagined."

Mrs Weeks said she was blown away by the life-changing renovations and she felt blessed to have a beautiful home in which to raise her sons Jack, one, and three-year-old Lincoln.

"On the first night I had the best sleep I have had in a very long time," she said.

She said the Bramstons were master renovators and Mr Weeks would have loved the changes.

"He would be so honoured and proud that everyone has completed what he started for his family and done such an amazing job of it," Mrs Weeks said.

The experience had given the family a reason to smile again.

"I will continue to search for our Paul and bring him home to us, but this has significantly lightened that road [and] given me back the strength I need to push on," she said.
