Beauty in simplicity

Kylie Radford.

When WA designer Kylie Radford opened her first fashion store in Fremantle in 2002, naming it after her beloved dog Morrison, she had no idea how big the business would become. Today she juggles the responsibility of designing with running a company with seven stores and more than 100 stockists around Australia, including Myer.

The label is known for elegant, timeless shapes and quality materials and Ms Radford’s penchant for quality over quantity flows into her beauty routine. She never wears perfume and believes beauty begins with good health.

“My main routine that I really notice helps my skin is vegie juice every day — and sleep,” Ms Radford says.

Although sleep can sometimes be in short supply for the busy Tasmanian-born designer whose achievements include a spot on BRW’s Young Rich List, Myer designer of the year, young entrepreneur of the year and twice being listed in WA Business News 40under40 list.

If designing and running a business aren’t enough to keep her hands full Ms Radford is also the mother of two young boys and admits her week can revolve around school pick-up, tae kwon do training and play dates.

Somehow she still makes time to exercise (about four times a week) and is an advocate of healthy home cooking.

On her busiest days Ms Radford says she keeps her beauty routine simple: “Just moisturiser, mascara and gloss,” she says.

Ms Radford’s go-to-moisturiser is Beaute Pacifique Moisturising Creme but she says she also loves a good exfoliant and her Sodashi Rejuvenating Serum.

“I also carry Sodashi hand cream and NARS gloss in my handbag,” she says.

A portable beauty routine is a bonus for an entrepreneur who spends a lot of time travelling. Ms Radford draws inspiration from around the world, from Seoul to Sydney but when it comes to spas her favourite is on the east coast. “I love Aurora Spa at The Prince Hotel whenever we go to Melbourne,” she says.

Aside from a regular eyebrow tint, Ms Radford keeps her skin fresh and healthy with DermaQuest pumpkin peels.
