Zhivago turns on the style in Sydney

West Australian designers dazzled on the catwalk at Sydney's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, with two labels showing their spring-summer collections yesterday.

Zhivago's Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevich unveiled their Egyptian-inspired collection, Eye of Horus, on models donning Cleopatra-style black wigs.

The collection was filled with garments in black, gold and white, in Zhivago's trademark figure-hugging silhouettes, exaggerated shoulders and plunging necklines.

The label, which made its debut at Perth Fashion Festival in 2012, is hoping to make a strong impact on the international market this year.

One Fell Swoop duo Nina Ergic and Dan Romanin made their solo debut at MBFWA with their collection Meridian.

The label's signature draping designs in earthy tones, dark blues and crimson hues dominated the collection.

While the designers shone on the catwalk, WA models added a touch of glamour off the catwalk, with some of the hottest names to come out of the State seen in the front rows at shows yesterday.
